Music Monday: 11/04/16

So I’ve decided, due to my love of music and how much I listen to it, every Monday  I’ll share songs that I believe you guys should listen to. I like to listen to different types of music e.g. hip hop, r&b, jazz, pop, rock, indie etc. My favourite genre of music is Hip-Hip and rap but I’m always open to new types of music and discovering new artists, whether it’s artists from today or the past. This weeks songs are:

Zayn – Like I Would:

Zayn Malik is a former member of the English boy band, One Direction, but he split from the group to become a solo artist. Some may describe this song as ‘dancefloor-ready R&B jam’ or just ‘electro pop’, but  I think it’s a very catchy song that can easily get me dancing. The link is below:

Zayn – LIKE I WOULD

Kasabian – Underdog:

Kasabian are an English rock band that started in 1997. Underdog is the third single in their album West Ryder Pauper Lunatic Asylum and pecked at #32 in the UK singles chart. Critics say that this was the only break out song from the group and their other singles are mediocre. I like the edginess of the song and how it can make someone feel like a rebel. The link to this song is below:

Amy Winehouse – In My Bed:

Amy Winehouse is famous for mixing musical genres e.g. soul. She sadly died in 2011, leaving a legacy behind. ‘In My Bed’ is song from her debut studio album Frank (2003) and I really enjoy this song due to its soul/jazz influence and the soothing melody of the song. The link to this song is below.

My top ten favourite Charmed demons/villains

My top ten favourite Charmed demons/villains

Charmed displays a variety of demons with different powers, physical features and abilities. Here are my favourite demons/villains based of scariness, awesomeness and overall impact in Charmed!

10) The Woogyman – The demon Grams struggled to defeat when the Charmed one was little was still lingering under the manor until Phoebe chanted a spell to get rid of it.

9) The Triad – The Triad sent many demons to try and kill the Charmed ones e.g. Belthazor. They are one of the highest ranked in the hierarchy of evil.

8) Gideon – Gideon earned the Charmed Ones trust especially when he helped convince the elders that Piper and Leo should be allowed to get married however, in season 7, Gideon sees Wyatt as a threat and does all that he could to kill him.

7) The Source – The source is definitely one of the scariest looking demons in Charmed as well as evil!

6) Christy Jenkins – Christy Jenkins was one of the most annoying villains in Charmed and she betrayed her own sister as well as trying to pretend she was on the Charmed ones side.

5) The Seer (Season 4) – The seer guided Cole back into evil as well as using her manipulative ways to get what she wanted!

4) Shax – Shax caused a lot of hurt and grief for the Charmed ones when he killed Prue and he definitely made the Sisters wonder even more if they wanted to carry on being witches

3) Zankou – Zankou’s way of trying to relate and connect with the Charmed ones personally is like non other. In season 7, with help from the Charmed ones he defeated the Avatars and tried to defeat the Charmed ones.

2) Cole Turner/Belthazor/The Source Of All Evil – Cole Turner has stuck around Charmed for a long time, trying to kill the Charmed ones, falling in love with Phoebe, becoming the source of all evil and trying to prove that he is good person. In the end, it was just not meant to be.

1) Barbas – Barbas is in my opinion the scariest demon in Charmed. He’s one of the demons that the Charmed ones just couldn’t stand because he always snuck back into the picture and took advantage of Leo and stole Wyatt’s powers. He wanted revenge!

Bethany Community

Bethany Community

I come from a fairly strict Nigerian Christian family, where going to church every Sunday is a priority and we take our faith seriously. Normally, my family and I visit a church 15/20 minutes away from our home each week, but due to my mums car crash and not having a car to drive to church (like I explained in my first blog), we decided to walk to the nearest church today, which is only 5 minutes away and called ‘Bethany Community Church’.

We’ve been to this church once before in 2014, but my mum is much closer to the Pastor in our usual church because they were friends when they were younger and they are both more familiar with the Nigerian format and preaching styles. There are a few things different and similar that I noticed between these two Churches.

One thing I’ve mainly noticed is that Churches with Nigerian/African Pastors often last longer than those that are not. Praise and worship is longer, the message is longer and there are others factors in the service that can last for around 3 hours or even longer. The church I visited to day lasted only an 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is one thing I like about English churches because it feels like you go there, sing for a bit, read the message, have some refreshments and then leave. However, when you know that you’re going  to be in Church for over 3 hours, your will power to get up go to Church decreases. There’s opening prayers, praise, worship, rhapsody, testimonies, the message etc. omdsss! Don’t get me wrong, I love the Church I normally go to and I’m thankful for it, this is just what I’ve observed from the Churches I’ve visited.

All in all, the great things is that they both contain passionate and lovely people who care about others and spreading the gospel. I’m thankful for the people around me and the places I get to go but most of all I’d like to thank God!

Comment if you’re religious or not and what you’ve been up to today 🙂

Catching up with friends

Catching up with friends

It was quite hard to accept the fact that most of my friends weren’t going to carry on onto sixth form, in fact only one of my friends form my group was going to the same sixth form as me! Now, I wouldn’t I didn’t have any friends outside my group but being the shy and not-so-bold person I am, I knew I would find it harder to feel comfortable and join another group or at least become very close friends with other people in my year. Thankfully, it seemed that making friends with new students from other schools and making new friends was easier than I thought and I’m blessed to have the friends that I’ve made today.

Trying to stay in constant communication with my old friends has really been hard though the year due to sixth form keeping you extra busy and all the things we had accomplished in your own lives and sometimes I think it’s best to just move on and just let our friendship fade away. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve meet up various times throughout the year however I haven’t really been in contact with the person who was my CLOSEST friend in primary and secondary school since October 2015. Her and I have had our share of arguments but at the end of the day she never failed to make me laugh or put a smile on my face.

It wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago I sucked up the courage so send her a message saying ‘Hey’ and asked her and another one of my friends if they wanted to meet up and catch up on all the things we’ve done. She said she had been busy as well in college and having a boyfriend etc. But it was cool. We were talking to each other, which was all that mattered. It was so nice catching up online and making a date available for us to meet in person. I said I would check out movies on at the cinema for a particular date this week and get back to them soon but it wasn’t until this afternoon I replied to her back after looking at film times.

However, the thing I’ve realised is that… I have moved on. It doesn’t feel like were in secondary school again or like we’re going to meet up for the first, it just feels like…. I don’t know how to explain it but have you ever had that feeling that you need someone in your life to make you happy or you need things to feel like how they were before but at the end of the day you realise you’ve got everyone and everything you need in right now. That’s how I feel right now.

Hmm… I still can’t wait to meet up with them and find out what’s new and share the things I’ve done as well 😉

Comment if you’ve ever felt the same thing or been in a similar situation!

My First Personal Post…

My First Personal Post…

Starting a blog was something quite unexpected this week. Being the first week of Easter, in year 12 and having loads and loads of revision to do for AS exam blogging wasn’t on my priority list, however here I am.

This week has been pretty hectic so far for example I’ve been trying to cram in as much geography revision and notes as possible because I couldn’t really be bothered to do much geography revision this year as a whole, but I wouldn’t really say its my fault because AS geography has to be one of the most BORING subjects to take in year 12. Geography was my favourite subject throughout year 10 and 11 and you can’t imagine how happy I was to be carrying on the subject in year 12, however it seems like they’re just repeating the same sort or topics again. I especially went to WHSmith to buy a pack of 100 revision cards so I could make notes on all the topics we’ve done so far. After hours of note taking I’ve finished each module expect for one but the last one I believe I can do later of next week.

Like I said, this week has been pretty hectic, aside from the fact I started my period this morning, my mother had a car crash 2 days ago so know she has to buy a new car, but hopefully it’s better looking than the last car we had anyway and last longer;/

Thanks for reading my first blog, please comment, like and follow me for more of my content!
