This weeks songs are:

1) Kygo – Raging ft. Kodaline

Kygo is a Norwegian DJ and record producer and Raging  was released in April 2016. This song is the fourth single on his recent debut album, Cloud Nine (2016), which features a number of good songs including one of his signature singles ‘Firestone’. Raging can be classed as a tropical house/deep house single because of it’s dancehall elements and balearic beats. I love the drop in this song so check out this awesome tune below:

2) Izzy Bizu – White Tiger

Izzy Bizu is a British Soul and R&B singer. I first heard this song on an advert for NCS and I instantly loved the singer’s unique vocals and I had to find out what the song was and who was the artist. This song features on her album A Moment of Madness (2016) along with her other singles ‘Adam & Eve’, ‘Diamond’ and ‘Mad Behaviour’. Check out this cool song below:

3) Gotye – Eyes Wide Open

Gotye is an Australian musician that first rose to fame with his single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ in 2011 and his album, Making Mirrors, was released the same year. On the album, Eye Wide Open was the fourth track and it peaked at no.55 on the Australian singles chart. This song is alternative rock and the lyrics metaphorically say that people are walking to their death (yeah, it’s a bit dark). Check out this song below:

Omen Music Video
Omen is an electro house/synthpop song by the English duo, Disclosure. This song was released in 2015 and it’s the second song from their
album, Caracal (2015). Omen peaked at no.13 in the UKs singles chart as well as featuring in the video game Fifa 16. I really like the music video to this song because its sensual, futuristic and it follows a gripping narrative. Sam Smith is a great vocalist and I really advise you to listen to the song if you haven’t already. Check out the song on the link below:Disclosure – Omen ft. Sam Smith

Lifted is an R&B/soul track by Naughty Boy featuring the Scottish artist, Emeli Sandé. Lifted reached no.8 in the UKs singles chart in 2013 and the music video features a hotel that displays a number of lone people dancing. I like the way this song makes me want to get up dance as if no one is watching and I really like the lyric “I’m not afraid and I’m not alone, even if I’m dancing on my own”. 1) Bob Marley & The Wailers – Natural Mystic141114-bob-marley-arp-1145a_6a60a906b67904ea4a5ceaba1e7a65a9.nbcnews-ux-2880-1000

‘Natural Mystic’ is the first song in Bob Marley & the Wailers’s ninth album, Exodus (1977). The album Exodus’ incorporates Jamaican reggae with other genres including blues, soul, funk and British funk. This is one of my favourite songs from this album besides Jammin’. This song is great when you just want to relax and chill out, but also to think about the deeper meaning of life and the world we live in. The link to this song is below:

2) The Smiths – Bigmouth Strikes Again

hi_1986_bigmouth7_1.jpg

The Smiths are my favourite alternative rock band and this is one of my favourite songs from their third album The Queen Is Dead (1986). ‘Bigmouth Strikes Again’ was the leading single in this album and reached no.26 in the UK singles chart in 1986. Morrissey, the lead singer of the band, compares himself to Joan of Arc when he says As the flames rose to her Roman nose’. In the background, there is a high-pitched voice which is Morrissey’s voice in a higher pitch. In this song, he regrets what he’d said by saying ‘I was only joking’.
