I’ve been nominated for the Blogger’s Recognition award by an awesome blogger, Rambling Kori, please check out her great blog! This isn’t my first time being nominated for this award so here goes:
1. Thank the blogger who nominated you and provide a link to their blog
2. Write a post to show your award.
3. Give a brief story of how your blog started.
4. Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
5. Select 15 other bloggers you want to give this award to.
Give a brief story on how your blog started:
I used to own an Instagram account dedicated to the TV show Charmed because I loved the show so much. I decided to create a blog about Charmed but then one day I decided I wanted to do more with my blog. I decided I was going to start writing about my personal life, music and films. I wrote my first post on school and came up with the idea of music Monday.
Give two pieces of advice to new bloggers:
1. Don’t pressure yourself to blog all the time and a lot in a short space of time. Blogging should be something you enjoy and it’s OK to take a break now and then
2. Be passionate about what you’re blogging about and do what makes you happy.
Here are the 15 Great bloggers I nominate:
1. Solsbury Hill
2. Journey To Clinical Psychology
4. My Life is an Ocean Fear
8. Chasing Visions
9. Culture Eighteen
12. We Black Poetz
13. My Irrelevant Thoughts
14. Thoughtful Frani
You don’t have to partake in this award but I just want to thank Rambling Kori again for nomination!
I’m so glad that my mock exams are over, overall I found them OK and we have to wait until February to get our results back. It’s going to be like how we’d open our results in the real results day such as our grades are going to be in an envelope. I think that people who do Biology are going to our marks back in class however, we are going to get our actual grades in February. The mocks especially Psychology was harder than I thought it would be and AQA (the exam board) are making the exam seven harder than ever before. I’m happy that I don’t have to revise for a bit until my Easter mock exams!
I have finished reading the first 3 Harry Potter books and I’ve enjoyed reading all of them but Pisoner of Azkaban is my favourite, it’s soooo good and I think JK Rowling is a genius!☺️ one thing I’ve noticed is that Prisoner of Azkaban is the most dissimilar to the movies so far but, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite film as well. I’ve read the first 3 chapters of Godblet of Fire and I like so far. I love the Harry Potter universe and a couple of weeks ago I did the quiz that puts in you in one of the four houses in Hogwarts and I was put in Gryffindor which I’m quite proud of!
It’s hard to imagine that I’ve got only got 5 months left of sixth form until I leave school and go off to uni. I’ve had so many memories at this school…
San Junipero is the fourth episode in season 3 of one of the best shows on Netflix, Black Mirror. It’s about two tourists who meet in a town called San Junipero and a lot of things are revealed throughout the episode. I watched this episode of black mirror last month and I was blown away! I love this episode so much and the extended spotify playlist, created by the writer, brings back the best songs from the 80s from some of my favourite musicians such as The Smiths, Belinda Carlisle and Whitney Houston. One of my favourite songs in San Junipero is Fake by Alexander O’Neal. I’ve been obsessed with this song for a while now because it’s so catchy and has a very 80s vibe. I highly recommend that you watch this episode of Black Mirror and check out this great playlist below:
This weeks post is named after the song Keeping Your Head Up by Birdy, it’s such a beautiful song, if you haven’t please do! The highlight of this week was having an insert day on Tuesday, meaning that I didn’t have to go to school. I was quite glad as well beacuse Tuesday is my only full day of lessons and on the other days I have at least one free period.
Time is moving on so fast, it’s half term in two weeks and people have already been sending off their UCAS applications for university and getting offers. I know people who have already gotten offers from Warwick and Bristol university. One of my friends has gotten an unconditional from Birmingham university to study biochemistry. I need to finish my application and send it off soon beacuse I’ve been told that they decide to offer you a place as soon as your application is in, they don’t wait until the deadline to start going through applications, so it’s in my best interest to send my application off early.
These few weeks back in sixth form has really made reality hit me, the fact that we are going to be going to university next year and starting a sort of new chapter in our lives is still crazy to me. A lot of people have been upset about their predicted grades and they’ve realised how this could all change which universities give them offers. I’ve been having a lot of assessments and tests these few weeks and the results have come with varying success which really put me down sometimes, but I am not going to let it get me down. It feels like we’re under a lot of pressure to do well and know everything automatically and this has definitely taken some of the passion that I had for certain subjects, away…
Please tell me what you’ve been up to lately and have a great weekend!
Like last weeks post, this week has been so hectic with school and all that comes with it. I didn’t get to write a blog post on Friday because I had so much work to do and I’d probably be repeating everything I’ve said on my previous blog posts. This week has been quite stressful however, in the beginning of last week I discovered one of my now favourite playlists on Spotify called ‘All Night Dance Part’. I’ve been particularly listening to dance music this week beacuse it somehow lifts my spirits, makes me forget about all the school work I have to do and brightens my mood. In a way, it reminds me of summer when I didn’t have to worry about mid-topic assessments and making pre-notes for lessons. I highly recommend that you listen to this playlist, some of my favourite songs are Girls Like, BOSS, I Loved You, Slave To The Vibe, Ain’t Giving Up, House Work, Rinse & Repeat, Just Say, Freak Like Me, Changes etc. So check it out!
I might start posting my favourite playlists every week on my blog with different song genres and my own playlists as well, so please tell me if you think I should!
This week has been so hectic, not just in school work but outside school as well. One of my oldest friends parents planned a surprise party for her birthday, so we tried hard all week to pretend that we weren’t going to be doing anything for her birthday and I’m not going to lie, I nearly spilled the beans when we were walking to school! My friends and I got to hide behind her gazebo and when she walked inside we shouted happy birthday and let out lots of party poppers. I was glad that she had no idea that we had planned a surprise party for her 18th and she thoroughly enjoyed burning her sociology folder, the subject she hated and dropped at the end of year 12, LOL.
My first whole week of year 13 has been busy and hectic due to the workload not only from teachers but from completing our UCAS application which includes our personal statement. I gave my first draft of my personal statement to my form tutor on Tuesday and she’s commented on what I need to improve on, which is quite a lot, so I’m planning on completing my second draft tomorrow. I know I can’t complete a personal statement in a week but I really can’t wait for this UCAS process to be over. I have a considerable amount of homework and wider reader I have to look forward to this weekend. I’ve gotten used to people asking me about my situation with my family in Manchester and me staying with my uncle, which makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable when I’m asked because it reminds me of how much I miss them.
This post is quite short but I really hope that you have a had a productive and enjoyable week. Please comment below what you’ve been up to!
My first week of year 13 (more like 2 days) went OK. I actually missed the first day of year 13, which was Tuesday, because I was still in Manchester and I wouldn’t be back until Wednesday. We got the day off on Wednesday so we could complete our personal statements and our UCAS applications which I still haven’t finished. The first draft of my personal statement is now due in on Monday because my awesome form tutor gave us the weekend to complete it. I am currently applying to do psychology at university and I’ve been using The Next Chemist’s post about tips on writing your personal statement to help me with mine, so check it out if you’re currently doing your personal statement! Thank you and Enjoy!
Summer has come and gone this year quicker than any other year in my opinion. Maybe it’s because I’ve been the most anxious to start year 13 than any other year and this is my last year in secondary school before I go off to university. I’ve spent most of the summer going up and down the country as you may already know by reading my previous blog posts but all in all this has got to be one of my favourite summer holidays. A lot has gone on in the past few months, changes that I might not be happy with but I have complete faith in God. One thing I’ve been thinking of starting is vlogs, maybe daily/weekly vlogging! You can check out my channel here but I deleted my old videos because they were uploaded a couple of years ago and have nothing to do with the content that I want to start uploading. I’ve recently been trying to pick out a cheap camera suitable for vlogging and I have my eyes on a SONY compact camera that I will hopefully get next week. Please comment if you think that I should start vlogging and if you’re already a vlogger, please comment on what camera you think will be suitable.
I’ve still got a few supplies that I need to buy for this upcoming academic year e.g. a new school bag, a new suit (we have to be formally dressed in my sixth form), new folders etc. and honestly I do enjoy back to school shopping. I am not, however, physically and mentally ready to start school and I usually feel this way a week before summer ends. I’ve still got my personal statement to write for my UCAS application and I’m still wondering what I’m going to put in it. I have watched videos and I’ve read examples of great personal statements but one thing that I’ve noticed that they always say is “Keep it positive”. The first draft of my personal statement is due in next Thursday, so I have just under a week to complete it however, I’m glad that I have completed my summer homework for media studies and psychology. One the things that I’m excited for in year 13 is the amount of free periods we will have because not only are we dropping a subject, we are also not doing P.E. this year. If you don’t already know, free periods are meant to be used for completing homework or studying or reading outside a subject.
I hope that you have had a wonderful summer and good luck to those who are going back to school or have already started school!

This weeks songs are:
1) Akon – Troublemaker
Troublemaker features Sweet Rush and this is the fourth single in his debut album, Freedom (2008). In this song, Akon is “Posted up” in the club and he’s chilling with the ladies, even though he says he’ll treat his girl like a queen, they know that he is nothing but trouble. I first heard this song when I was in primary school, maybe I was in year 5/6 but it was the only song that I had on iTunes for a while! I used to listen to this song on repeat after school on the computer, so whenever I hear this song it takes me back to my childhood where my passion for music began. I don’t think that this is a groundbreaking song with outstanding lyrics, but check out this song below:
Akon – Troublemaker
2) Mary J. Blige – Real Love
Real Love was released in 1992 by R&B singer, Mary J. Blige. This is the second single from her debut studio album, What’s The 411? (1992). Real Love peaked at no.7 on the US Billboards Hot 100 in 1992 but reached no. 1 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks in 1992. Toby Lightman did a cover of this song in 2004 and it appeared on her debut studio album, Little Things (2004). I really like the beat in this song and how personal this song is to Mary because she said to her producer: ‘I just want a real love in my life for once.’ Check out this great song below:
Mary J. Blige – Real Love
3) Tweet – Boogie 2nite
Boogie 2nite is a dance-pop song by Tweet, released in December 2002. This song appeared on her debut album, Southern Hummingbird (2002). I originally heard this song through the cover by the British dance group, Booty Luv which peaked at no. 1 on the UKs dance chart in 2006. Booty Luv’s version of this song is more suited for a party/club setting in my opinion, but I like both versions. Tweet’s original version of this song in my opinion focuses more on the vocals and I love the harmonisation of her vocals in this song, It’s soothing. Check out this nice song below:

Please tell me what you think about this weeks song choices and suggest any songs you’d like me to add to Music Monday next week!
