This weeks songs are:

1) Kygo – Raging ft. Kodaline

Kygo is a Norwegian DJ and record producer and Raging  was released in April 2016. This song is the fourth single on his recent debut album, Cloud Nine (2016), which features a number of good songs including one of his signature singles ‘Firestone’. Raging can be classed as a tropical house/deep house single because of it’s dancehall elements and balearic beats. I love the drop in this song so check out this awesome tune below:

Kygo – Raging ft. Kodaline

2) Izzy Bizu – White Tiger

Izzy Bizu is a British Soul and R&B singer. I first heard this song on an advert for NCS and I instantly loved the singer’s unique vocals and I had to find out what the song was and who was the artist. This song features on her album A Moment of Madness (2016) along with her other singles ‘Adam & Eve’, ‘Diamond’ and ‘Mad Behaviour’. Check out this cool song below:

3) Gotye – Eyes Wide Open

Gotye is an Australian musician that first rose to fame with his single ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ in 2011 and his album, Making Mirrors, was released the same year. On the album, Eye Wide Open was the fourth track and it peaked at no.55 on the Australian singles chart. This song is alternative rock and the lyrics metaphorically say that people are walking to their death (yeah, it’s a bit dark). Check out this song below:

1 exam to go!

I’ve done 6 out I the 7 AS exams I have to do this year and my last exam is in two weeks! On Tuesday, I had my psychology paper 2 exam which was very similar to paper 1 in the fact that it was neither easy or very hard, but it went OK. Psychology is one of the subjects I want to do really well in because I want to study psychology in university and then become a forensic psychologist, which deals with prisoners and crimes. I thought the 12 marker in my paper 2 exam went much better than the two 12 markers I had to do for the paper 1 exam so I’m quite happy about that.

Yesterday, I had my biology breadth exam paper which is basically tick boxes and short answer questions for those who don’t do AS biology. I must say, it went better than I thought even though OCR (the exam board) tried to add in some weird questions. You’d probably think that an exam made up of tick boxes and short answer questions would be pretty easy but there are always questions that are about tiny details that no one would have thought to revise e.g. What is the length of a mitochondria? 0.2nm, 0.8nm, 1.2nm or 0.02nm. Like, who would have bothered to remember that? Also, I can’t believe I put 1.6 million as an answer to the length of DNA. After the exam, I was discussing answers with one of my friends and I told her I put 1.6 million for that question and she looked at me as if I was crazy. I think she got 0.7 or something. LOL. Overall, it wasn’t a bad exam and I’m glad that the exam is over because I usually do worse in my biology breadth exam paper. On the 7th June, I have my second biology paper which is long answer questions.

However, half term in next week so I’m planning on going over all the topics I’ve done for biology so I can get a better mark and hopefully that pushes my grade up overall. I’m also going to be taking a break from revision, since that’s all I’ve done these last few weeks, and catch up on my favourite TV shows and anime. I’m currently watching Sailor Moon Sailor Stars and I’m 30 episodes into Hunter x Hunter!

Tell me what you’ve been up to this week and how your exams have been going!

I’m Nearly There

I’m so glad it’s Friday today because I’ve done 4 out of the 7 AS exams so far, which means I only have 3 exams left. My first exam was on Monday and it was psychology paper 1, which I believe was way easier than the specimen paper we were given in class, however I wasn’t expecting the two 12 markers because it kind of messed up my timing and I don’t  think wrote enough for each 12 marker .

On Tuesday I had my geography paper 1 exam, which I must admit I didn’t revise very much for because I really don’t like the subject and I wanted to focus more on revising more my other 3 subjects that I’m going to take next year. I really didn’t like geography throughout this year and you can find out why in my post My First Personal Post…. I revised as much as I could but right now I’m just hoping the grade boundaries are low!😂

I had my media studies exam yesterday and the questions were very similar to the ones I’ve done in class so I found the exam quite easy. Out of the two 32 markers we were given, I chose the one that was about consuming media in new technologies because I thought it was more straight forward and there was more to write about with this question than the other which was about media institutions. Last week, I was told that I got an A in my media coursework so I only have to get 61/80 in the exam to get an A in the subject overall.

Today, I had my geography skills exam paper that only lasted 1hr and it went better than I thought if I’m being honest. I’ve got 2 exams next week, psychology paper 2 on Monday and biology (breadth paper) on Thursday. Good luck if you have any exams coming up and tell me what you’ve been up to this week!

This weeks songs are:

1) Beyoncé- Mine ft. Drake

maxresdefault (2).jpg

Beyoncé (2013) was overall a great album and one of my favourite songs from that album is Mine featuring one of the worlds best rappers, Drake. Beyoncé talks about motherhood, relationships and marriage but also reassures her lover that he is forever her’s no matter what the tabloids and newspapers say about their relationship. Drake’s verse is centred around the fact that her still has feelings for this girl so he’s “running back” to her because there’s no one that can compare to her. Check out this song:

Beyoncé – Mine ft. Drake

2) David Guetta – Lovers on the Sun

David-Guetta-Lovers-On-The-Sun-ft.-Sam-Martin.jpg

Lovers on the Sun is a country rock/house track in David Guetta’s sixth studio album, Listen (2014) featuring the vocals of the American singer Sam Martin. This song was inspired by western films and features similar progressive chord patterns as Daft Punk’s song, ‘Get Luck’. Lovers of the sun reached no.1 in the UK Singles chart in 2014 but reached no.3 in the US Dance Club songs. I really like the great vocals in this song and the awesome mix between country and EDM. Check out this song in the link below:

Study Leave

Today, I’ve officially started study leave which means constant revision and I probably won’t leave my house for about 4 weeks because I’m going to be revising for my exams. I have 4 exams next week, psychology paper 1 on Monday, geography 1 on Tuesday, media studies on Thursday and geography 2 on Friday. This weekend is going to be intense! I’ve got to get at least 3 D grades to stay in sixth form which I confidently say I can achieve in the end of the day. I don’t really feel stressed out as some of my friends about the exams but I’ve really got to focus on studying the next few weeks so I can get good results.

Good Luck! If you have any upcoming exams whether it’s GCSE, A Levels, university exams etc. and I hope you achieve the grades you want! Comment if you’ve got any exams coming up and how you’re going about your revision! Other than that I hope you have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

Turn Back Time Music Video

Turn Back Time is an electro house track by the British producer, Sub Focus. This song features the uncredited vocals of Yolanda Quartey, who was part of the British country/soul band Phantom Limb. Released in December 2013, this song was his sixth single in his second studio album, Torus (2013). This song is a fan favourite whenever he is performing live and it reached no.10 in the UK Singles Chart. I have loved this song since the first time I heard it because it has an awesome build up and the drop is great! The narrator talks about how music makes her feel young again, when she was free. Check out this song in the link below:

2) August Alsina – No Love ft. Nicki Minaj

a11d14ec9f9a21b43334f01e1223efc6

No Love is the fifth single in August Alsina’s debut album, Testimony (2014). In this song, August talks about not wanting to be in a serious relationship with anyone and he only wants to “Kick it” with this girl. August blames himself for the reason he can’t be loved and tells this girl “so don’t come looking for love” because he doesn’t have any love to give. I really like the music video for this song because the relationship between Nicki and August is so cute and she challenges his beliefs that he has to be the bad boy instead of showing his more intimate side of himself. Check out this song in the link below:

August Alsina – No Love ft. Nicki Minaj

3) Stardust – Music Sounds Better With You

Stardust_-_Music_Sounds_Better_with_You

Music Sounds Better With You is the only song by the French Band, Stardust. After the release of this track, the trio resumed their solo careers and never made a track together again. AllMusic gave this track 4.5 stars out of 5, calling it “One of the most irresistable, sublime dance singles of the decade”. Check out this song in the link below:

The Liebster Award

Thank you Snugglethisfez, for this awesome nomination, I am very grateful especially because this is the first time I’ve been nominated! Check out her answers to the questions she got on her latest post! For those who don’t know what the Liebester award is, it’s an award that bloggers give to other bloggers through nomination that lets people discover new blogs/websites.

The rules are:

  • Thank the blogger who nominated you.
  • Answer the questions they have given you
  • Nominate another blogger/s
  • Let them know you have nominated them
  • Give them questions to answer

Here are my questions and answers:

  1. What’s your favourite Disney film and why?
My favourite Disney film is The Lion King because I really like the story line and it’s the only Disney film to make me cry when I watched it. Also, I really like how authentic it is, for example the songs in it reflect the languages and cultures in Africa. I just think it’s a one of a kind film.
  2. If you were an animal what would you be?
If I were an animal I would be an elephant because they’re so cool. Their large and always seem to have a smile on their faces. I once saw a picture of a baby elephant crying because his mother didn’t want to take care of him and it was truly heartbreaking. I think the child cried for about 3hours!
  3. At a special event (e.g. Concert), do you live in the moment or behind a camera/phone screen taking pictures?
I try to live in the moment as much as possible when I go to a special event because you can’t really relive the experience so you might as well live in the moment. However, I like to preserve experiences by taking photos and videos so I can look back at the memories I’ve had.
  4. What do you wish you were better at?
I wish I was a better blogger e.g. creating unique content, sticking to a timetable etc. I want to create better content for those who follow and view my blog! Also, I wish I were better at telling people how I feel and think than just leaving it in my head.
  5. What do you love most about yourself?
I love the way I can relate to people and understand how people are feeling. I am quite good at reading body language and facial expression of people and tell what’s on their minds. I am psychic or telepathic or anything, haha!
  6. If you were marooned on a desert island, what would be the one thing you would take?
I would take a boat because I could float out to sea and I think it would be more likely for someone to find you in the sea than on the island. With a boat you could get noticed by a ship or something.
  7. What is your most listened to song?
My most listened to song is now I Love It by August Alsina. I really like the soothing tone of this song and I love grooving to it.
  8. What inspired you to start blogging and is it the same reason that you continue?
I started blogging because I wanted to meet new people and share my life experiences and hobbies with others. I wanted to share my love for Charmed, music and films with others. Also, I’ve continued to do posts like ‘Music Monday’ to expand people’s taste in music and tell them about good songs they might not have heard before.
  9. Give a random fact about yourself.
  • I don’t like any type of cheese in sandwiches and stuff however, I only like cheese cooked and on toppings e.g. pizza, lasagne etc.
  1. Create the weirdest and most confusing phrase you can. Be adventurous!
  • It was a warm summers day when I flew the blue onion spacecraft into the apex of my head teacher’s four eyed yeti monster that she kept as a pet.

Haha!

Thanks once again Snugglethisfez for the nomination, I’ve enjoyed answering your awesome and unique questions! I nominate…Chadddelra! Here are the questions I’d like you to answer:

  1. Who are your favourite 5 bands/artists?
  2. If you could be any fictional character, who would you be?
  3. If you became president, what would your first rule be?
  4. What do you love about yourself?
  5. What trait do you dislike in others?
  6. Why did you start blogging?
  7. If you could live in any country, which one would you choose?
  8. What’s your middle name?
  9. What’s one thing you’ve learned while blogging?
  10. Describe everything you’ve done/going to do today?

I can’t wait to see your answers Chadddelra!
