New Opportunities

I’ve been genuinely so busy this week with homework, revision, blah blah blah… but I’ve got some pretty exciting news. On Tuesday I went to my first proper audition in London, I was audition for the main characters sister and I think it went really well! The audition was for a web series about how two people meet and how it’s more than just a coincidence. I haven’t heard anything back from them but I’m sure they’ll contacted me soon. Also, I might be narrating a short animated film which is soo exciting. I’ve still been going to the theatre every Tuesday after school and the acting coach/assistant is pushing us so hard during our sessions. I’ve had so many new opportunities open up for me this month and I’m so greatful.

School has been taking up most of my time because I have my exams in 3 months. I’ve had a lot of revision to do and not much time to blog. I’ve had to make presentations lately for media studies on our case studies for our exams which is tireing and we have more research to conduct. I have another psychology mock in two weeks and I’m going for an A grade again like I got in my mock. I’ve already started revision and I think this paper will be easier than the mock paper. The weather has been great this week however the sunny weather has started to remind me of exams this summer😂 I’ve finally got an offer from Loughborough university meaning that I’ve got all 5 university offers!!🎉

Also, I’ve been watching Naruto and now I’m on episode 157. It’s soo good and I decided to start watching this anime because anyone who is a fan of anime has watched Naruto. It’s just as good as Hunter X Hunter if not better. I can’t wait to finish the whole anime even though I know this isn’t the best time to start an anime. What’s worse is that I haven’t finished watching Yu-Gi-Oh! GX but I’ll finish that after I’ve watched Naruto and Naruto Shippuden.

I hope you guys have been having a great week and I hope you guys have a great weekend!

Yay, Half Term!

Finally, I have a bit of a break from school! Although, I have lots of homework to do, a presentation to complete and I need to start preparation for the real exam. I’ve completed my biology homework which took some time and I’ve still got to complete my presentation on Scottish identity for media studies. I don’t really know why I picked Scottish identity because for one of our case studies in media studies we have to explore the identity of a group of people or a place. I’m the only one in my class doing a place but I’ve always found Scotland quite interesting. I’ve got mocks coming up in Easter for all my subjects which is fun🙄 but these exams are really good practice for the real exams in June so their not pointless or unbeneficial.

I finished Harry and Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday and it feels so strange not having anything to read. The books were soo good, if you haven’t read the book, I really advice that you do even if you’ve seen the films. I’m think of rereading all the books or maybe the 3rd, 4th and 6th book because those are my favourites. I probably wont reread then anytime soon because I’m concentrating on studying.

This week has gone pretty slowly in my opinion, but like I said, I’m glad it’s half term and I can have a bit of a rest. Even my head of sixth form said we should have a break because when we come back, there’s going to be a lot of work and revision to do. We have about 13 weeks (excluding holidays) of school before our exams!

I hope you guys have been having a good week and please tell me what you’ve been up to☺️

Secret Santa

I have been bombarded with work this week. I’ve had 3 assessment in 3 days and I’ve got mocks coming up in January. I’ve been given a timetable for my mocks and I have 2 of them on the same day😫. I’ve been given a table of what could come up in my psychology exam and I have to go through 4 AS topics that I did last year. Also, I have to mention that my biology exam is 2HOURS AND 15 MINUTES long. It’s longer than any exam I’ve had at GCSE but for the real biology exam we have more than one paper that are at least 2 hours long. I’m glad that we break up for Christmas holiday on Wednesday and technically I don’t have to come in for periods 1 and 2 because I have a free period. Also, I need to get my secret Santa a present for Wednesday and I have no idea what to them! I’ve usually been quiete bad at finding the right gifts to get people as well lol😂.

Good news! I’ve booked an audition for a theatre in London, they said i don’t have to prepare anything but I should wear suitable clothes to move around. I’m mostly doing this for fun and to gain more confidence in myself. I think it will be a good experience and maybe I could do more in the future. If you have any tips or advice please feel free to comment, it would be really helpful.

Also, my mum and I are going to Manchester on Wednesday. If you remember from my previous posts, I live in my old city so I can finish year 13. It’s going to be great seeing my mum and brother again, I haven’t seen them in about 4 months. I really miss them but I’m trying to really focus on my education this year.

I hope you have been having a great week, please tell me what you’ve been up to☺️

Future Plans

Since I was 13 I’ve always wanted to be a psychologist but it was only until I started doing psychology last year that I decided that I’m particularly interested in forensic psychology. I’ve always thought of myself as having 2 parts: a creative side and a more studious side. I like having a balance of both in my life and hopefully in my future career, that’s why I want to get into other projects even though I’m still focused on becoming a psychologist. I particularly like anything to do media e.g. Filming and I also like graphic design. I would have taken graphics as one of A-levels however graphic design in sixth form is art based. I’m still not sure if I should take a creative route in my life and I’ve always believed that people only think of me as being someone who isn’t very creative.

I love media studies, it’s been my favourite subject since year 9 and it’s the only subject I think I’ve been consistently good at. My teacher watched my opening sequence for my documentary and she was blown away with it which, makes me so happy especially when the deadline is in under 2 weeks. I’ve also been thinking about doing a bit of theatre as well, just for fun.

You may remember from my blog post: The Missing Cord! that I left my iPhone cord at school and I couldn’t find it the next day so I had to buy a new one. Guess what happened yesterday! Yep, I left my phone cord at school! HOWEVER, I walked back to school and luckily I found it plugged in the computer I was using. Thank God!

I hope you have been having a great week and please tell me what you’ve been up to this week!

Who do you think you are?

This week has been a little harder to go through mostly because of coursework and some of my peers have been making life hell for me. It turns out that I am more behind than I thought on my critical investigation which is an essay about an tissue or topic in the media. I only have 2 weeks left to complete it and I also have 2 weeks left to hand in a rough cut of my opening sequence to my documentary. I’ve actually nearly finished the opening sequence of the documentary, I just need to find the right music and record the voice over.

I find it really sad how some people try to put you down and degrade you just to make themselves feel better about themselves. They just think they’re better than anyone else and feel like it’s ok to treat people how they want. I don’t know if these people realise that what they say hurts and what they’re doing isn’t actually banter. Why is it that when you’re trying to do work and mind your business they have to come and ruin your day? One boy in my media class, who I never talk to, shouted at me across the class aggressively to do something and said it as if I was a 5 year old, that’s not even it! He turns to his friend and laughs like he’s just proven himself or by making me feel like I can’t do something.

I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them on Sunday and it was brilliant! I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I think J.K. Rowling is genius. My favourite character is Queenie because she is so nice, caring, compassionate and she has the coolest power of Legilimency! This is when you can not only read people’s mind but also know their past and secrets.

I’m just glad that this week is over, I have no homework to do but I have to do some revision for my mock exams in January. I’ve also got offers from 4 universities now which is great! I hope you guys have been having a better week than I have, please comment below what you’ve been up to!

Christmas Shopping Day

Today, our school has a day off and it’s called ‘Christmas Shopping Day’ solely dedicated to going shopping for Christmas. Most people don’t have this holiday and to be honest most people in our school don’t go shopping on this day instead they have a lie in or catch up with  school work. I’ve completed more filming for my documentary for media studies and I only have one interview left to do for my documentary, which I will do on Sunday. My documentary is already 4 minutes long because I had underestimated how long each interview was going to be. It said that our work had to be 3-4 minutes long but I need to ask my teacher whether it can be a little bit longer so I can fit everything in. We have 3 weeks left until I have to give in a rough cut of my documentary and only 2 weeks in January to fully complete it. To be honest, I can’t wait until it’s finished!

This week was the last week I had to go back to my primary school but, I’m so glad to have had the experience to go back and meet all the teachers. Seeing my old teachers made me realise that they’d still been teaching 7 years later! The year 4s had some sort of perseverance morning where they have to complete a range of activities e.g. Learn the alphabet in sign language, I’m quite proud to say that I can say my full name in sign language as well.  The teacher I was helping wrote a really beautiful comment on the report sheet we had to complete, the only problem is that she spelt my name wrong! She wrote Omoni instead of Omone😂

I’ve got a 70 minute biology test on Monday which is great! (not) so I have a lot of revision to do this weekend however, I have some good news, I’ve been offered a place at the University of Kent, Leicester and East Anglia to study psychology! Although, I’ve been thinking more lately about doing an apprenticeship, maybe something do to with film studies or graphic design but I don’t know yet.

I hope you guys have been having a great day, please tell me what you’ve been up to today!

I’m an official UCAS applicant!

Yayyyy🎉 I’ve officially sent of my application for university and I’m so happy. It’s been a long time coming and I want to thank everyone one of you who have given me advise and helped me with my personal statement. I’m applying to Leicester, Southampton, UEA, Kent and Loughborough. My personal statement has been the one thing that I’m been trying to perfect, my psychology teacher was really helpful as well because he gave me books with extra studies and research, that I added onto my personal statement. I talked about research into social and cultural stereotyping and language development in my personal statement which made it a lot better. I went my advisor and showed her my personal statement on Wednesday and she said that it was pretty much perfect which made me feel great! She had to check my whole application and today I pressed the button that officially sent off my application.

Yesterday, I went to do voluntary work at my old primary school again but this time I was helping out the Year 4s. I was a scribe for a called called Emma because she had broken her arm and I had a great time. Like last week, we were also writing instructions however this time the children had to make instructions for making an Alpana (symmetrical drawings on dotted paper). They had to use sophisticated words ( for 8 year olds) because it was going to be written for year 5s.

I’m also really happy because I’ve started editing my documentary for media studies. So far it looks really good but we only have 3 weeks until we have to give in a rough cut, then 2 weeks to make any changes. My teacher is quite proud of my work so far but I still have more filming and editing to do next week.

I hope you guys have been having a great week, please tell me what you’ve been up to this week or what you’re up to this week!❤️

Primary School Memories

It’s now the second half of this term, meaning that I’m ever so close to doing my mock exams in January. I’m particularly nervous because our mocks for biology which include two modules that we studied last year, this is due to the fact that biology is now a 2 year course. The grades I got for biology at the end of year 12 don’t count to my overall a-levels grade anymore. I only have mock exams for psychology and biology which is good, I am currently filming my documentary for media studies.

I’m quite excited because I started filming my documentary yesterday where I interviewed my Aunty about how she think ethnic minorities are represented in the media and how this could affect her children. I am also going to interview my friend at church as well as get some shots of the service to include. I’ve also been thinking about the music I’m going to add because it’s just as important as the footage, I might include Keeping You Head Up (instrumental) and Hold On by Timabaland & Magoo. Hold On has quite a sad vibe to it which reflects the issue that I’m going to address in my documentary.

I got the great opportunity to go to my old primary school to do voluntary work on Thursday Morning. It was great being back at my old school yesterday and seeing all the changes that have occured since Ieft. I met some of my old teachers, including my friends Dad who is a PE teacher at the primary school. I have so many memories from primary school for example going to see Lion King in theatre. My class was made up of around 15 pupils and my primary school was still very small when I was there. I was quite close to everyone in my class and we definitely made the most of the last few weeks we had left in primary school. My friend and I often wish that we could go back to primary school for one week because we miss it so much!

I hope you guys have been having a good week and please tell me what you’ve been up to this week!

It’s Finally Half Term

If you haven’t already guessed from the title, next week is half term meaning no school for a week. Also, I don’t have that much homework to do except for some revision and I have to make a 3D model of the action of insulin in the body. I’m quite happy because I’m up to date with everything on my UCAS, all I have to do is put on my personal statement, pay and send. I think we’ve reached half term quite quickly, and if you think about it, there isn’t that much time until Christmas break.

I was going to visit my mum and brother in Manchester but I’ve decided not too because I’ve got filming to do for media studies and their other things I need to do. I’ll visit them during Christmas break but even then I’ll have a lot of revision to do for January. I am so excited to start filming my documentary on how the representation of ethnic minorities in the media are affecting young people. I’ve asked a few on my friends and they’ve all agreed to be interviewed and also I’m hopefully going to get some footage from my church on Sunday. Media studies is kind of the only subject that I’m doing at the moment that I am throughly enjoying. I love psyhcology but I feel like I’m under a lot of pressure and I enjoy biology but the amount of work we get from our teacher is ridiculous. Another thing is that I am the star student of the week in Psychology because I got great results on my essay. I’m quite proud of that because this is the first time I’ve really stood out in Psychology and my class is full of really smart people.

I hope you guys have been having a great week and please comment below what you’ve been up to this week/any plans for the weekend!

The Surprise 18th

This week has been so hectic, not just in school work but outside school as well. One of my oldest friends parents planned a surprise party for her birthday, so we tried hard all week to pretend that we weren’t going to be doing anything for her birthday and I’m not going to lie, I nearly spilled the beans when we were walking to school! My friends and I got to hide behind her gazebo and when she walked inside we shouted happy birthday and let out lots of party poppers. I was glad that she had no idea that we had planned a surprise party for her 18th and she thoroughly enjoyed burning her sociology folder, the subject she hated and dropped at the end of year 12, LOL.

My first whole week of year 13 has been busy and hectic due to the workload not only from teachers but from completing our UCAS application which includes our personal statement. I gave my first draft of my personal statement to my form tutor on Tuesday and she’s commented on what I need to improve on, which is quite a lot, so I’m planning on completing my second draft tomorrow. I know I can’t complete a personal statement in a week but I really can’t wait for this UCAS process to be over. I have a considerable amount of homework and wider reader I have to look forward to this weekend. I’ve gotten used to people asking me about my situation with my family in Manchester and me staying with my uncle, which makes me feel a little bit uncomfortable when I’m asked because it reminds me of how much I miss them.

This post is quite short but I really hope that you have a had a productive and enjoyable week. Please comment below what you’ve been up to!
