Yay, Half Term!

Finally, I have a bit of a break from school! Although, I have lots of homework to do, a presentation to complete and I need to start preparation for the real exam. I’ve completed my biology homework which took some time and I’ve still got to complete my presentation on Scottish identity for media studies. I don’t really know why I picked Scottish identity because for one of our case studies in media studies we have to explore the identity of a group of people or a place. I’m the only one in my class doing a place but I’ve always found Scotland quite interesting. I’ve got mocks coming up in Easter for all my subjects which is fun🙄 but these exams are really good practice for the real exams in June so their not pointless or unbeneficial.

I finished Harry and Potter and the Deathly Hallows on Saturday and it feels so strange not having anything to read. The books were soo good, if you haven’t read the book, I really advice that you do even if you’ve seen the films. I’m think of rereading all the books or maybe the 3rd, 4th and 6th book because those are my favourites. I probably wont reread then anytime soon because I’m concentrating on studying.

This week has gone pretty slowly in my opinion, but like I said, I’m glad it’s half term and I can have a bit of a rest. Even my head of sixth form said we should have a break because when we come back, there’s going to be a lot of work and revision to do. We have about 13 weeks (excluding holidays) of school before our exams!

I hope you guys have been having a good week and please tell me what you’ve been up to☺️

My First Audition

If you guys remember, I had my first theatre audition on the 21st January. It was in London, I live just outside London, which led to me getting three trains to the location. I was very nervous at first but when I met the producer, writer and other auditioners, I felt really relaxed! The audition was made up of a mix of activities and towards the end of the audition we discussed what ideas we had for the theme of the upcoming show about education. Overall, the audition was really relaxed and they were really looking for people who can contribute to the production and bring new ideas.

Last Tuesday I got an e-mail that I have a place to join the company!🎭 They sent me the session dates and I am sooo excited! I went to the first session on Tuesday and I had a great time. The majority of the session was about getting to know each other and doing some activities to get us more comfortable in the environment. What was really great was that we came up with a set of values that we should all follow such as respecting one another, being kind, respecting another’s opinions and ideas etc. It was crazy to realise that people in my audition didn’t make it and the producer said that we must have really impressed them in our auditions if we got a place in the company! This also means that I’m in the company for a year and I can get involved in the next three shows without auditioning😊

I received my mock results today and I am  pretty pleased with my results. I got:

Media Studies: C

Biology: C

Psychology: A

I’m not really bothered about my media studies results because the questions that came up where ones that we haven’t done in class. My Media teacher said that we should ignore the grade because we hadn’t studied the topics😂 I’m really happy with my Biology grade, I honestly thought I was going to get an E or D. I am ecstatic about getting a A in psychology because that was the grade I was most nervous about because I thought the mock was way too hard! I’ve had quite a busy and good week overall, but I have a lot of homework to do this weekend.

I hope you guys have had a great week and please comment below what you’ve been up to!

My Top 5 Magical Transportations From Harry Potter

As you guys know, I’ve been reading the Harry Potter Books and there are some magical transportation that I would love to take on a joy ride. If, in real life, you’d like to hire a car, why don’t you check out the car rental company Turo!

5) Hogwarts Expresshogwartsexpress

All Harry Potter fans wished they had received their acceptance letter from Hogwarts. The Hogwarts Express transported Harry to one of the only places he called home, Hogwarts, and even though there might not be there much magical about a train, I would really like to experience the ride to Hogwarts.

4) Thestralsa43ef568-1708-4ed2-8500-444d2441f0ec

Even though I know I won’t be able to see Thestrals, they strike me as very interesting creatures. Being only seen by people who’ve seen death, I’d love to fly up to places on these invisible but amazing creature.

3) Broomsticks

the_order_on_brooms

Everyone knows that Harry Potter’s favourite mode of transport is riding a broomstick. Flying came quite natural to Harry however, I believe that broomsticks might not be might my favourite magical transport due to my fear of heights and I’d imagine it can be quite uncomfortable on your backside. However, the thought of riding on a broomstick and playing Quidditch excites me!

2) The Knight Bus

warner-bros-pictures-harry-potter-and-the-prisoner-of-azkaban-13

The Knight Bus sounds like the most fun magical transportation in this list, the ride may not be as smooth, however I love the fact that you can ride the Knight bus in muggle streets without muggles having an clue that a triple-decker bus is travelling over 100mph!

1) Flying Ford Anglia

tumblr_nsb4yajce41tst6nxo1_1280

Literally being just a flying car, I can visualise myself using the flying Ford Anglia to travel to any destination, school, work etc. Not only can you avoid traffic but with the invisibility button (working), no one would be able to see you. I think I would experience the smoothest ride on the flying Ford Anglia and I can say goodbye to waiting for trains and Bus’s!

I hope you guys like my list, please tell me what other modes of transport from pop culture you’d like to ride and don’t forget to check out the car rental page by Turo.

My Media Coursework

Today was the last day I had to finish and render my opening sequence of my documentary for media. I’ve told you guys before that for media studies I’m making an opening sequence to a documentary about how the representation of ethnic minorities in the media affect young people. I’ve finished editing it and I have finally handed it to my teacher and I’m quite glad to say that I’m quite proud of it. I know I said I would show you guys but it’s on one of the school network folders and hopefully I’ll upload it to my blog next week. I’d really like to have you guys opinion on it so, expect an opening sequence to a document on my blog next week!

I’ve had such a good week, I’m nearly haflway through reading Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and I’m enjoying it very much so far. I was quite a bit annoyed at Harry at the beginning of the book because of the way he treated his friends but I still love Harry☺️ if you were wondering, my favourite character is Hermione because she is hardworking, sometimes insensitive but she has everyone’s best interest at heart. Also, she is very loyal to Harry, who’s your favourite character is the books? I’ve been talking about Harry Potter a lot lately but I love the movies and this is the first time I’m reading the books and I knew I was going to love it!

I’ve got my audition tomorrow!… and I feel pretty relaxed. I haven’t been to this theatre before in London and I hardly know my way around London however, I know the route and in all honesty I’m quite excited. I haven’t been to a proper audition before and this will be a great experience. I know I sound confident now but I know when I get there I will be so nervous but I know that I will be fine haha😂 If you have any advice for me PLEASE TELL ME because it would be great!😂

I hope you guys have been having a great week and please tell me what you’ve been up to!

Post Mock Exams + Harry Potter

I’m so glad that my mock exams are over, overall I found them OK and we have to wait until February to get our results back. It’s going to be like how we’d open our results in the real results day such as our grades are going to be in an envelope. I think that people who do Biology are going to our marks back in class however, we are going to get our actual grades in February. The mocks especially Psychology was harder than I thought it would be and AQA (the exam board) are making the exam seven harder than ever before. I’m happy that I don’t have to revise for a bit until my Easter mock exams!

I have finished reading the first 3 Harry Potter books and I’ve enjoyed reading all of them but Pisoner of Azkaban is my favourite, it’s soooo good and I think JK Rowling is a genius!☺️ one thing I’ve noticed is that Prisoner of Azkaban is the most dissimilar to the movies so far but, Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite film as well. I’ve read the first 3 chapters of Godblet of Fire and I like so far. I love the Harry Potter universe and a couple of weeks ago I did the quiz that puts in you in one of the four houses in Hogwarts and I was put in Gryffindor which I’m quite proud of!

It’s hard to imagine that I’ve got only got 5 months left of sixth form until I leave school and go off to uni. I’ve had so many memories at this school…

Secret Santa

I have been bombarded with work this week. I’ve had 3 assessment in 3 days and I’ve got mocks coming up in January. I’ve been given a timetable for my mocks and I have 2 of them on the same day😫. I’ve been given a table of what could come up in my psychology exam and I have to go through 4 AS topics that I did last year. Also, I have to mention that my biology exam is 2HOURS AND 15 MINUTES long. It’s longer than any exam I’ve had at GCSE but for the real biology exam we have more than one paper that are at least 2 hours long. I’m glad that we break up for Christmas holiday on Wednesday and technically I don’t have to come in for periods 1 and 2 because I have a free period. Also, I need to get my secret Santa a present for Wednesday and I have no idea what to them! I’ve usually been quiete bad at finding the right gifts to get people as well lol😂.

Good news! I’ve booked an audition for a theatre in London, they said i don’t have to prepare anything but I should wear suitable clothes to move around. I’m mostly doing this for fun and to gain more confidence in myself. I think it will be a good experience and maybe I could do more in the future. If you have any tips or advice please feel free to comment, it would be really helpful.

Also, my mum and I are going to Manchester on Wednesday. If you remember from my previous posts, I live in my old city so I can finish year 13. It’s going to be great seeing my mum and brother again, I haven’t seen them in about 4 months. I really miss them but I’m trying to really focus on my education this year.

I hope you have been having a great week, please tell me what you’ve been up to☺️

Future Plans

Since I was 13 I’ve always wanted to be a psychologist but it was only until I started doing psychology last year that I decided that I’m particularly interested in forensic psychology. I’ve always thought of myself as having 2 parts: a creative side and a more studious side. I like having a balance of both in my life and hopefully in my future career, that’s why I want to get into other projects even though I’m still focused on becoming a psychologist. I particularly like anything to do media e.g. Filming and I also like graphic design. I would have taken graphics as one of A-levels however graphic design in sixth form is art based. I’m still not sure if I should take a creative route in my life and I’ve always believed that people only think of me as being someone who isn’t very creative.

I love media studies, it’s been my favourite subject since year 9 and it’s the only subject I think I’ve been consistently good at. My teacher watched my opening sequence for my documentary and she was blown away with it which, makes me so happy especially when the deadline is in under 2 weeks. I’ve also been thinking about doing a bit of theatre as well, just for fun.

You may remember from my blog post: The Missing Cord! that I left my iPhone cord at school and I couldn’t find it the next day so I had to buy a new one. Guess what happened yesterday! Yep, I left my phone cord at school! HOWEVER, I walked back to school and luckily I found it plugged in the computer I was using. Thank God!

I hope you have been having a great week and please tell me what you’ve been up to this week!

Who do you think you are?

This week has been a little harder to go through mostly because of coursework and some of my peers have been making life hell for me. It turns out that I am more behind than I thought on my critical investigation which is an essay about an tissue or topic in the media. I only have 2 weeks left to complete it and I also have 2 weeks left to hand in a rough cut of my opening sequence to my documentary. I’ve actually nearly finished the opening sequence of the documentary, I just need to find the right music and record the voice over.

I find it really sad how some people try to put you down and degrade you just to make themselves feel better about themselves. They just think they’re better than anyone else and feel like it’s ok to treat people how they want. I don’t know if these people realise that what they say hurts and what they’re doing isn’t actually banter. Why is it that when you’re trying to do work and mind your business they have to come and ruin your day? One boy in my media class, who I never talk to, shouted at me across the class aggressively to do something and said it as if I was a 5 year old, that’s not even it! He turns to his friend and laughs like he’s just proven himself or by making me feel like I can’t do something.

I watched Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them on Sunday and it was brilliant! I’m a huge Harry Potter fan and I think J.K. Rowling is genius. My favourite character is Queenie because she is so nice, caring, compassionate and she has the coolest power of Legilimency! This is when you can not only read people’s mind but also know their past and secrets.

I’m just glad that this week is over, I have no homework to do but I have to do some revision for my mock exams in January. I’ve also got offers from 4 universities now which is great! I hope you guys have been having a better week than I have, please comment below what you’ve been up to!

Christmas Shopping Day

Today, our school has a day off and it’s called ‘Christmas Shopping Day’ solely dedicated to going shopping for Christmas. Most people don’t have this holiday and to be honest most people in our school don’t go shopping on this day instead they have a lie in or catch up with  school work. I’ve completed more filming for my documentary for media studies and I only have one interview left to do for my documentary, which I will do on Sunday. My documentary is already 4 minutes long because I had underestimated how long each interview was going to be. It said that our work had to be 3-4 minutes long but I need to ask my teacher whether it can be a little bit longer so I can fit everything in. We have 3 weeks left until I have to give in a rough cut of my documentary and only 2 weeks in January to fully complete it. To be honest, I can’t wait until it’s finished!

This week was the last week I had to go back to my primary school but, I’m so glad to have had the experience to go back and meet all the teachers. Seeing my old teachers made me realise that they’d still been teaching 7 years later! The year 4s had some sort of perseverance morning where they have to complete a range of activities e.g. Learn the alphabet in sign language, I’m quite proud to say that I can say my full name in sign language as well.  The teacher I was helping wrote a really beautiful comment on the report sheet we had to complete, the only problem is that she spelt my name wrong! She wrote Omoni instead of Omone😂

I’ve got a 70 minute biology test on Monday which is great! (not) so I have a lot of revision to do this weekend however, I have some good news, I’ve been offered a place at the University of Kent, Leicester and East Anglia to study psychology! Although, I’ve been thinking more lately about doing an apprenticeship, maybe something do to with film studies or graphic design but I don’t know yet.

I hope you guys have been having a great day, please tell me what you’ve been up to today!

#Room2: UrbanClassics

Room 2: Urban Classics is a great playlist full of my favourite urban tunes. It contain Hip-Hop, R&B and UK garage songs from artists including Snoop Dogg, Missy Elliot, Nina Sky and Sisqo. What I love about this playlist is that it includes some of my favourite dancehall jams like Gimme the Light by Sean Paul, No Letting Go by Wayne Wonder and Turn Me On by Kevin Lyttle. The blend of UK garage and mainstream Hip-Hop makes this playlist unique and refreshing, mostly beacuse UK garage is not as popular as it used to be however, it’s still a great genre of music. Enjoy this playlist below:
